Members of the
UK Uganda Network extend a very warm welcome to Esegu Michael and
Ssebuuma Godfrey Jackson who arrived from Uganda on Tuesday 3 September
2002. Michael and Godfrey are members of the Uganda Scouts Association
and are here for the very first time in the UK at
the invitation of Marion and Brian Stagg (Michael) and Marie and Eric
Goulding (Godfrey).
Eric and Marie
met Godfrey in 1995 when they visited Uganda for the first time. Eric
led a contingent to Kampala where the project was to work with the
Uganda Scouts Association to renovate Baden Powell House. Marion met
Michael in 1997 when she was on her second visit to Uganda with the
'Books for All' project in Iganga, this contingent also led by Eric.
The
relationships have grown over the years, through correspondence and
meeting the young men on all other subsequent visits to their country.
During their two-month
stay, Michael and Godfrey will attend several
National Events including the Gilwell Reunion where they will be found
in
the Commonwealth Marquee promoting the UK Uganda Network's
forthcoming projects in Uganda. The Ugandan Scouts will also assist
at
local Farnham Scout Group meetings as well as taking time off to for
sightseeing around the UK. A busy calendar of events is being planned
for
Michael and Godfrey and they would be pleased to accept any invitations
to visit people as the calendar allows.
