The 150 strong
UK Contingent to the 11th World Scout Moot, held in Mexico in July
2000, sponsored 2 young people from Uganda. Prossy Molly Mbambu and
Kenneth Rukundo joined the UK Contingent when they arrived in London
at the beginning of July. Lancashire Scout in Preston entertained
Kenneth at a BBQ held in his honour while Prsyy enjoyed a day in Cuernavaca
visiting the Guide Centre.
The two Ugandan
Scouts joined in with the pre-Moot activities in Mexico. An afternoon
on Xochimilco boats and Marriachi men playing local music. Afterwards
a tour of Mexico City.
The two Ugandans
thoroghly enjoyed the Moot and made new friends all over the world.
The UK Scouts said it was a priviledge to have them along and they
enjoyed listing to stories of Uganda and looking at photographs of
the country. One of the UK Scouts said "We learnt a tremendous amount
from them about life in Africa".
On route back
from Mexico the two Scouts spent a short period at the Docklands Scout
project before flying back to Uganda.
