Michael and Godfrey

When Network Members Marie and Eirc Goulding and Marion Stagg visited Uganda in the spring for Pross's Wedding a seemingly endless struggle commenced in trying to get their Ugandan friends to come to the UK

Disappointment followed disappointment as their visa application was rejected by the British High Commission.

There seemed to be no logical reason for the rejection given the high level of support by the Gouldings and the Staggs but the British visitors just had to leave Uganda without knowing if their friends could visit them this year or indeed if they could come to the UK at all!

All has ended happily and with the support of the UK Scout Association, Victoria Nalongo at BP House Kampala, the boys' employers and many others, Godfrey and Michael are now in the UK enjoying a holiday and participating in Scouting activities in the UK.

This has included joining the team promoting Uganda 2003 at the Gilwell Reunion.

A load of Balls!

Marion Stagg's determination to children learn through play took her in search of over 300 Tennis Balls which she took out to Uganda in the spring of this year to give to almost all the members of a school in Apac.

Maion describes how she got the balls onto the plane and north to Apac and the article includes photographs of the children at play.

Computers despatched to Uganda

Africa Scout Fellowship at the Next Network Meeting

The next Network Weekend will be held at Hesley Wood, Sheffield, from 18/20
October 2002 and will host discussions about the formation of an Africa Network. International Commissioner David Bull will attend the meeting.

It is hoped that we might be able to encourage the   Regional Director - Africa Scout Region - Mjr.Kinuthian Murugu to join us.

Gilwell Reunion

Michael and Godfrey as well as Cheif Executive Derek Twine and the Chief Scout joined members of the UK Uganda Network at the Gilwell Reunion.
